The team beat Hinsdale Central 3-2 to win sectionals, and won 1-0 over Neuqua Valley (ranked #2 in the country) to earn a state semi-final match Fri, Nov. 6, against defending state champions New Trier. The Lions beat New Trier 2-0, earning a trip to the state finals, Sat, Nov. 7, where they defeated Lake Zurich 2-1 in thrilling double-overtime fashion to win the 2009 Class 3A State Championship. 15 players on the state champion squad are former LTSC players, while five currently play for FCX South.  

The team finished the season with a 25-2 record - congratulations from FCX South to the state champions on their success this season.
