US Club National Championship

The Girls U14 FCX team went to North Carolina to bring home the trophy as the US Club National Champions. They had already won the regional title but needed to compete against teams from across the country for the prestigious national title.

In the final, against a team from New Mexico, the ref called for a disallowed goal against the FCX U14 team, and players and coaches started to think maybe luck was not on their side. However, they score and managed to hold on for the 1-0 lead until the final whistle blew.

It was complete excitement for all players, parents and coaching staff, who jumped up in delight as they were crowned US Club National Champions 2007.

Congratulations to all the girls and coaching staff from Palatine Celtics, FC Barrington and Lyons Township Soccer Clubs.

"This has been a tremendous occasion for all of our U14 players," said Ryan Snyder, FCX Director of Coaching. "They now are able to write this on their soccer resume for future colleges, and no one can take it away from them. It has been a wonderful experience and a lot of fun at the same time, which is what soccer is all about."

"Each player within all of our club structures has the opportunity to compete at this level if they desire," said Rob Mitchell, Director of Girls for LTSC. "This FCX U14 girls team have now paved the way for many of the club players who come under the FCX structure to follow in thir footsteps. It has been a truly exciting summer for them all."

FCX starts at the age of U15-U18, with additional tryouts for players wanting to compete at the highest level. These FCX events have taken place during the summer months, outside of the regular teams' seasons.

FCX was established in 2005, with F.C. standing for Football Club and “X” being the variable. The club consists of players from clubs around the Chicagoland area, boys and girls ages U15 to U18. The concept of FCX is to provide an environment for all types of soccer players to develop and achieve success through good competition and outstanding coaching.

Players who represent FCX have the opportunity to attend and compete in high-level regional and national tournaments.
