SPECIALIZED PROGRAMS
In order to achieve total player development, we offer many specialized programs including:
Open PracticesPlayers who have attended their own team's practices and would like additional training are encouraged to attend training sessions of other teams (upon notification of trainer) in order to allow those players maximum opportunity to develop their skills.
Skills AcademyThroughout the year, the Director of Coaching (DOC) and Boys Director of Coaching (BDOC) will direct weekly sessions focused on age appropriate, fast-paced technical skill development aided by Staff Coaches.
Goalkeeper TrainingThe Club hires a professional goalkeeper trainer (staff includes the Barrington High School GK trainer and Illinois ODP GK trainers also) to train our club's goalkeepers weekly outside of their usual practice time. We also offer GK camps during the summer.
College Assistance ProgramPaul Webster the current Elmhurst Womens College Head Coach offers educational seminars to players and parents about the recruiting process, timetable, and financial aid, questions to ask college coaches, and the appropriate level for each player. He and the rest of the FCX/ FC Barrington staff will also contact college coaches on behalf of our players and aid them as they navigate the decision making process. Our HS age teams are directed as to how to develop cover letters and personal profiles. The club will also create a team profile to hand out at the college showcase tournaments they attend.
Skill CampsDuring the summer we offer 3 and 5 day camps focused on overall skill development or specialized skills development (Finishing and Attacking camp.) Goalkeeper camp, (Speed training)
Annual Player EvaluationsCoaches fill out evaluations on players a
nnually to assess areas of strength and weakness and let players know what skills they need to focus on.
Tournament Program and Foreign Travel OpportunitiesOur teams are entered into tournaments that will provide them challenging experiences. We will not enter our teams into more than 2 tournaments per season as we would like to maintain an optimal practice/game ratio. As teams get older they will go to the most competitive tournaments throughout the nation. High schools teams may go to additional college showcase events. Each year, our 13 and 14 year-old teams are offered an opportunity to travel to a foreign tournament (or academy of excellence) or the USA Cup.
Constant Team Evaluation by DOC and Technical Director The DOC and Technical Director regularly observe practices and games in order to give feedback to coaches on team and player needs. Coaches also fill out game reports to track strengths or weaknesses of teams and focus their training sessions appropriately. Coaching workshops and courses are held to help educate our coaches on particular areas of weakness seen amongst teams.
Coach Evaluation Forms (filled out by parents/players)After each season we ask our parents/players to fill out evaluations on our coaches in order to help us evaluate the quality of players' and parents' experiences and make improvements accordingly if possible.
